Teacher of Excellence

Al DeRose started and developed the Atascadero High School Agriculture program, which grew during his 36-year tenure into a powerhouse program that garnered state and national honors in several areas. Al coached 17 State Champion judging teams, seven of which went on to win National Champion recognition. In addition, his students were very active in fairs and shows throughout California, garnering several champions at county and state levels. He was recognized as the San Luis Obispo County Teacher of the Year and served two terms as Chair of the FFA Board of Directors.

Bill King taught agricultural mechanics at Petaluma High School for 40 years, helping shape the employability and life skills for countless students who are now gainfully employed throughout California. His focus on integrating real life applications to the curriculum offered in his courses earned him the respect of his peers, numerous State FFA championships, tremendous support from businesses and employers, and the everlasting gratitude from the community he served. Bill served as Regional CATA President for the North Coast.
